The Manhattan Cup, New York City’s biggest (50 boats), arguably most fun –and only– inshore saltwater fishing tournament.
About the Manhattan Cup
For 25 years, the Manhattan Cup has stood as a powerful symbol of healing, gratitude, and community. The tournament was created to bring hope and respite to first responders, military service members, and others who suffered physical injuries and PTSD from service, whether overseas or domestically, including the events of 9/11. What began as a heartfelt idea has grown into a deeply meaningful annual tradition that has served more than one thousand courageous men and women.

A Mission Rooted in Service
At its core, the Manhattan Cup is about using fishing as a force for good. Each year, honored guests are welcomed aboard volunteer-captained boats for a full day on the waters surrounding New York City. Set against the backdrop of the World Trade Center site, the tournament was envisioned as an all-release striped bass event — a fitting tribute held where the shadows of the Twin Towers once stretched. The experience offers not only world-class fishing for Atlantic striped bass, but also fellowship, reflection, and a sense of belonging.
Community, Generosity, and Impact
The success of the Manhattan Cup is made possible by an extraordinary network of sponsors, volunteers, captains, and supporters. Their generosity has enabled the event to provide unforgettable experiences that help participants reconnect, build supportive relationships, and find moments of peace on the water. Every sponsorship, donation, and volunteer effort directly contributes to creating these life-changing days for our nation’s heroes.
Honoring the Past — Inspiring the Future
As the tournament celebrates its 25th year alongside the 25th anniversary of the attacks that shaped its mission, the Manhattan Cup remains committed to expanding its impact. With continued support, the organization aims to welcome even more veterans and first responders into the fishing community and ensure that the spirit of remembrance, service, and healing continues for generations to come.
